We Have Tips to Help Make Its Efficiency Just Ducky!
Have you been to Byers Homestead Park in Commerce Township yet? If not, you’re missing out on a fascinating glimpse into the past, a picturesque walk across the Huron River and tons of opportunities to feed the ducks. Yes, ducks!!! Generations of local Michiganders have made feeding the ducks at this historic landmark a family tradition.
All this talk about ducks made us wonder: Do you have your ducks in a row when it comes to keeping your house warm and toasty this winter? We’re already experiencing low temperatures in the 30s with colder weather to come. It’s important to make sure your heater has its ducks in a row as you depend on it day after day until the cold weather finally breaks when spring arrives.
To help improve your system’s efficiency and avoid unexpected heating repairs and breakdowns, we’ve “hatched” a perfect plan:
Dust! Did you know dust and debris in your vents can make your heater less efficient? It’s true! Grab a dust rag and wipe away these troublemakers!
Use a programmable thermostat. This handy device will help you cut your energy costs and extend the life of your furnace. Ask us for details!
Change the air filter. A dirty filter is an energy eater because your furnace must work harder! Replace your filter at least every three months. Shop our store to stock up and ensure you’ll always have that extra filter handy.
Keep your heater running at its best by scheduling regular furnace tune-ups. A well-cared-for system will operate as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
Seal air leaks. Check for any leaks around your windows, doors and other openings to prevent your warm, treated air from escaping to the outdoors.
Once you have your ducks in a row with your heating system, you should check the weather forecast for the possibility of a balmier November day to visit Byers Homestead Park to feed the ducks, check out the historic buildings and treat yourself to some of the old-fashioned candy available inside the barn/country store!
This gem has been listed on the state register of historic sites since 1977.
